Challenge
Designing the wayfinding for senior living at Amica at Edgemont Village posed several significant challenges. The building itself is Modern design with strong, bold colours; therefore, the wayfinding had to complement these strong colours but at the same time not be overpowering. In addition, because of security requirements, we had to post more information than we normally would for the residence. And, even though the building is modern in its architecture, it blends elegantly into the North Vancouver landscape. We wanted to bring some of that look into the wayfinding signage design.
Solution
Aroh designed, manufactured, and installed the project in North Vancouver. We combined the brushed metal accents with the feature wall colour to create a sign design that blended with the decor, and used glossy finish materials to bring more of a contemporary style. We incorporated the use of a subtle grass graphic in the background in order to tie the signs to the natural environment around the residence. And, to bring the outside in, we used several colour combinations that illustrated the beauty and diversity of the landscape.
